Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Jockey J. Lloyd was asked to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated that his mount was fractious in the barriers and reared up and missed the start and he was obliged therefore to ride the horse further back in the field than he would have liked. He further added he had been following NORMANDY, however shifted to the outside of that horse after passing the 600m and shortly thereafter the horse was under pressure and was very disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Apprentice H. English reported that her mount was very uncomfortable on the surface having never raced on a heavy track previously, however was unable to offer any other excuse for the performance.

Broke down near the 550m and fell. Jockey D. Browne was examined by the doctor and found to have soft tissue damage and right hip and knee injuries stood down and riding for the remainder of the day. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
