Stewards questioned jockey C. Bayliss as to his positioning of the gelding, which led in today’s event, which was in contrast to its most recent racing pattern. Apprentice Bayliss indicated that prior to the start he had anticipated settling in a position behind the lead, however the horse began well and he was able to cross the runner to his immediate inside without overly pressuring his mount, and had anticipated allowing another runner to cross to the lead to obtain a trailing position, however this did not eventuate and he felt he established a steady tempo throughout.
