The start was delayed when the horse reared after having been loaded into the barriers and became cast. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Trainer S. Laxon was advised that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in 2 official trials prior to starting again. Slow to begin. Was bumped by another runner near the 200m and forced wider at that point.

Jockey J. Murphy reported his mount travelled comfortably throughout, however when asked for an effort at the top of the straight failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing in the run to the line. He indicated connections would now send the mare for a spell.
