On returning to scale rider reported that it was his intention to lead tonight’s event, however due to the early tempo he was unable to assume this position but nevertheless settled on the pace. Rider added that when the pace of the race quickened near the 700m the gelding came off the bit and failed to quicken and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer agreed that the horse’s performance tonight was disappointing and added that he will now review the gelding’s current preparation. Vetted, no abnormalities.
