When questioned by Stewards in relation to the horse’s seemingly improved performance, Trainer L. Hatch advised that the horse was having its first start for his stable and he was therefore unable to explain the horse’s previous poor performance. Trainer Hatch added that the colt had been working well, and had jumped out well prior to today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.

Laid in throughout the event, and brushed the running rail on a number of occasions. Improved onto the heels of another runner passing the 400m, and as a result shifted in and became awkward. Momentarily placed in restricted room near the 200m when another runner shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
