When questioned by Stewards regarding the tactics adopted on the mare, Apprentice H. English explained that her instructions were to make use of the inside barrier and hold the lead if possible which is consistent with the horse’s usual racing pattern. Apprentice English further stated that when ALMAZAN joined SHEAR VOGUE in the lead passing the 800m, her mount commenced to overrace. She added that she would have liked to steady the speed at that point of the race if possible, however she was unable to do so due to the mare overracing. Stewards accepted the explanation.
