When commencing to weaken near the 250m, the gelding laid in and was steadied from heels, and whilst being corrected by its rider, shifted out and bumped heavily with another runner. Jockey R. Maloney could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding, which he advised had failed to travel as he has expected from the 600m, and proved disappointing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will contact trainer B. Healey in the coming days regarding the gelding’s performance, and its post-race recovery.
