Fractious in the barriers, then began awkwardly, losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. A. Spinks was questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance. Jockey Spinks stated that after losing ground at the start he contemplated settling towards the rear of the field, however as the speed was only slow in the early stages he elected to improve forward to obtain a forward position as instructed. He added that after travelling well in the middle stages the gelding was under immense pressure from the 700m and proved disappointing.

Began awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, S. Doyle stated that the gelding was fractious in the barriers and as a result began awkwardly, causing him to settle further back than anticipated. He added that in his view this had a detrimental effect on its performance as the gelding is one-paced and is better suited when able to dictate terms when leading.

Performed uncompetitively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer D. Joice was advised that before being permitted to race again the filly must perform satisfactorily in an official trial and a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, must be produced.
