Raced wide throughout.Questioned re performance - rider stated intention to settle midfield with cover. Caught wide early so elected to restrain to obtain cover but was still forced to race 3 wide at the rear of the field for the majority. Gelding never travelled comfortably in middle stages and was dissapointed with effort. Rider of the opinion gelding better suited when able to be ridden positively from an inside barrier.

Rider asked to comment on performance - instructed to laed, when CARRY THE DRINKS pressed forward to lead he elected to sit of that runner but felt that stong tempo in early and middle stages had a detrimental effect on filly's performance.

Began awkwardly and shifted in. Questioned re tactics in setting fast tempo - instructed to lead and then improve from 600m to obtain winning advantage on field. Complied with instructed but conceded that the tactics adopted had a detrimental effect on horses' performanc. Stewards critical of rider's actions in that once obtaining the lead near the 1100m she should have continued to restraing it in the middle stages to give it every oppurtunity to finish the race of instead of allowing it to stride forward leaving the 700m.
