When asked to comment on the horse's improved performance, trainer B. Sturgess explained that he had expected a forward showing at the horse's last start at Warwick, however he was disappointed with the manner in which the horse was ridden when positioned back in the field and wide from a poor barrier draw and was held up early in the straight. He added that he was expecting a forward showing today however was surprised that the gelding was able to win today's event, given the step up in class. Stewards noted the explanation.
