Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from the 600m. Inquiry re tactics adopted. Apprentice J. Orman stated that his instructions were to be in a forward position, but after beginning awkwardly the runners to his outside had improved and crossed him and instead of improving forward and being caught wide, he elected to remain in a rearward position with cover. He added he was able to improve into the race from the 600m where the gelding finished the race off only fairly. He indicated that the gelding would be better suited to racing over distances further than that of today's event.
