Change of tactics. After leading last start, connections advised the horse would be ridden in a midfield to back position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Shifted in approaching the winning post and bumped the running rail and became unbalanced.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and the overall performance, jockey Hammersley stated that after beginning well he was able to take up a forward position just behind the leaders, and after travelling comfortably throughout the race the gelding failed to quicken as expected when asked to improve into the race from the 700m and was one-paced when placed under pressure from the 400m, proving disappointing.

Had to be steadied from the heels of COLLATERAL, which shifted in near the 1500m. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance, apprentice Orman could give no tangible explanation other than to add that the gelding may not have appreciated today's track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which finished a distant last, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
