When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, jockey J. Lloyd stated that after settling in a rearward position he indicated that the slow tempo of the race did not suit the mare and he was left flatfooted near the 400m. He added that the mare did work to the line fairly however he was nevertheless disappointed with the performance.

Stewards questioned jockey A. Spinks regarding the tactics he adopted on his mount in sitting outside the lead in today’s event which was in contrast to the horse’s established racing pattern. He indicated that the horse was inclined to overrace in the early stages and as there was a distinct lack of pace in the race he was unable to fulfil his instructions which was to ride the horse in the second half of the field. Jockey Spinks therefore elected to allow his mount to stride forward to secure a position closer to the fence.
