Stewards questioned jockey M. Hellyer regarding the tactics adopted on the horse as he sat outside the lead three-quarters of a length in front in the middle stages when it appeared there had been opportunity to settle without contesting the lead. He indicated it had not been his intention to lead and that his instructions had been to attempt to obtain cover as the horse had overraced at its most recent start. Trainer W.
