On returning to scale Apprentice reported that his mount felt awkward in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer later reported that the mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer was advised that, as this was the first time the mare had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward. Trainer advised stewards that the mare will now be retired from racing.
