After being caught wide in the early stages, the gelding was restrained by its rider passing the 1000m to obtain a position one of the fence in a rearward position. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

Hung out whilst rounding the home turn, and then laid in under pressure when commencing to weaken in the home straight, and proved difficult to ride.

Goltz restrained his mount to a trailing position one off the fence behind the eventual winner of the race, COLPO DI TAMBURO, approaching the 1100m. Bumped by another runner on two occasions after leaving the 1100m. Improved onto heels when the pace of the race steadied near the 1000m and, as a result, lost ground.
