When questioned as to the performance, App. M Murphy stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages but when asked to improve leaving the 600m was left flat-footed when the tempo of the race increased. App. Murphy added that the gelding was doing its best work over the concluding stages and may appreciate a step up in distance. Trainer M Lakey was of the view that the slow tempo in the early and middle stages did not suit the gelding’s racing style and accordingly he was not overly disappointed with the performance.
