Began awkwardly. Questioned re tactics in setting fast tempo - rider stated instructed to obtain forward position if possible but not to place gelding under undue pressure in early stages. After beginning awkwardly had to ride gelding along in effort to obtain forward position which he was able to do passing the winning post on the first occasion in settling outside the leader. However when attempting to sit of the leader his mount commenced to over race and refused to settle despite his efforts.

Rider questioned re tactics in setting fast tempo - rider stated instructed to obtain forward position which she was able to with relative ease in early stages. When EXCITEMENT LEVELS commenced to over race to her outside she was reluctant to overly restrain her mount as she was of the opinion that this would cause it to over race and be detrimental to her chances. As a consequence she allowed it to stride along but noted it was under pressure leaving the 1000m. Stewards advised rider she had erred in not making a greater effort to restrain her mount during the early stages

A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which commenced to weaken leaving the 800m failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.
