When questioned as to riding of the gelding, B Ainsworth stated that after beginning slowly she was concerned she would be caught wide so allowed the gelding to settle at the tail of the field with cover. App. Ainsworth added that passing the 500m she permitted the gelding to shift wider on the track as it had previously performed well when allowed to improve to the outside of the field. App. Ainsworth conceded that she had erred in her decision to shift wider passing the 500m and should have endeavoured to save ground rounding the home turn by improving to the inside of BASIC STRATEGY.
