Slow to begin. Questioend re performance, rider noted gelding settled at rear of field which is its customary pattern of racing however failed to respond to riding when placed under pressure leaving the 500m and proved disappointing. Of the opinion gelding raced flat today. Trainer D Bowen agreed with the comments of rider and indicated he would monitor gelding’s recovery before possibly stepping it up in distance at its next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
