Mr B. Gordon, representative for trainer B. Laming, was questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance today as compared to its most recent starts. Mr Gordon explained that the horse was second up today and at its previous start it was obliged to race wide and hung out in the home straight, which placed its rider at a disadvantage. He added that the filly had blinkers, a lugging bit and bubble cheeker on the nearside today, which in his view was advantageous to its performance. He added that SWISS LOVE was well ridden today when able to lead and dictate the tempo of the race.

Slow to begin. Unable to secure clear running approaching and rounding the home turn and again had to be steadied near the 250m when awkwardly placed at the heels of BUBBA ROCKER.

P. Hammersley explained at scale that he could offer no tangible explanation for the horse’s poor performance. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that KANUI would be required to compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial before racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings, and a routine swab sample was taken.
